Oswald Halley Colven was an initiate of St James’s Union Lodge No 180 in 1867. He joined the Lodge of Felicity No 58 in 1874 and became a Grand Steward by their nomination in 1880 and their Worshipful Master in 1882.

He was a partner in a firm of shipowners, merchants, dealers and chapmen in Seething Lane, London and became a Vice President of the Peckham Mutual Society. He lived in Anerley in South London and was married to Rosina Phoebe Colven (née Strong).


Surname spelling: several sources, masonic and civil give variations on his surname including Colven, Colvern and Colvin. The London Gazette uses Colven so this site adopts this spelling.
